OBJECTIVE: Avalanche safety management in Livgno
DESCRIPTION: Alpsolut Srl is part of the Lombardy Region’s Technical Operations Unit for avalanche safety management in the Livigno area. During the winter season, certain avalanche sites, that could potentially affect infrastructure in the main valley floor, are constantly monitored. The monitoring activity is based on site knowledge, continuous qualitative monitoring of identified areas, analysis of snow stratigraphy profiles conducted both on-site and in zones representative of the overall conditions, daily monitoring of weather stations—also using the SNOWPACK snow cover simulation model—historical data, and studies related to avalanche risk assessment.
