PROJECT: drafting of the Avalanche Risk Management Plan

STAKEHOLDERS:
OBJECTIVE: to analyse and assess safety and management issues with regard to avalanche risks in four areas of the municipality of Valdidentro. The objective for each area was to identify procedures for mitigating avalanche risks during the winter season.
DESCRIPTION: On behalf of Comune di Valdidentro, Alpsolut drew up the Avalanche Risk Management Plan (P.G.R.V.). The aim was to analyse and assess safetyan management issues with regard to avalanches in four areas of the municipality of Valdidentro. For each area, procedures useful for mitigating avalanche risk were identified. The work highlighted guidelines for snow and weather monitoring and for closing/opening the areas concerned, in order to enable their operational management. The preparatory phase included the development of a snow and climate study, developing avalanche dynamics simulations, and analysing historical avalanche activity data useful to identify the various critical thresholds.
